Amos 8:11-13 ““Behold, the days are coming,” declares the Lord God, “when I will send a famine on the land— not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the Lord. “They shall wander from sea to sea, and from north to east; they shall run to and fro, to seek the word of the Lord, but they shall not find it.” ESV
Have you ever seen hunger for God’s Word? I have – Ukraine
W/o a Word from God…
No knowledge of who God is or what He is like.
No understanding of who we are or where we came from.
We all know something is wrong in the world but we would not know what the real problem is.
We would have no authoritative guidance for our marriages, parenting, fiancé, government.
We would not know the solution to the problem.
We would not know have to become right with God.
This life would be all there is.
We would have no basis on which to evaluate truth.
We would not know God and we would be w/o hope in a messed up world and a world that has been known to go mad at various times and places.
And in our most stressful, grief-filled times the only comfort we could experience would be that given by friends.
Answers the question: Once a fence is down in someone’s life is there really a way to rebuild it?
Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” ESV
John 8:12 “Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”” ESV
Has it dawned on you how much you need God’s Word?
Romans 15:4-5 “For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. “May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus,” ESV
Isaiah 55:7-9 “let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” ESV
Isaiah 40:8 “The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.” ESV
Acts 20:32 “And now I commend you to God and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified.” ESV
Romans 4:22-24 “That is why his faith was “counted to him as righteousness.” “But the words “it was counted to him” were not written for his sake alone, “but for ours also. It will be counted to us who believe in him who raised from the dead Jesus our Lord,” ESV
2 Timothy 3:14-17 “But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it “and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, “that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.” ESV
Hebrews 4:12-13 “For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. “And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.” ESV
1 Peter 2:2 “Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up to salvation—” ESV

James 1:21-25 “Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. “For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. “For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. “But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.” ESV
